Toshu's Kanji House 23th

Thank you for waiting.
Today's guest is 春"Spring"♪

Ta-da!
We are Four seasons rangers!
{coming in a loud voice}

Wow! {Surprised}

Sorry~! I think I surprised you.

I was a little surprised. lol
Are you 春"Spring"?

Yes, I am 春"Spring". (*^_^*)

Hello, 春"Spring".
I'm so glad that your friend came with you!.
Could you introduce yourself first?

Hello, everyone. (^ ^
Thank you for inviting me today!!
My name is 春"Spring". I was born as Bronze Script in the West Zhou Era.
I am about 2800 years old.
I'm Spring, which is one of the four seasons. (^ ^)
I mean, after Winter and before Summer.
Everyone calls me 春(haru)"Spring"-chan.
Nice to meet you☆

How do you do, 春(haru)"Spring"-chan?
Nice to meet you.
It's so nice that you are one of the four seasons.

By the way, 春(haru)"Spring"-chan, you look totally different between when you were born and in current 春"Spring".
Why is that, Bow-Wow?

This just happened once I noticed.
Would you like to travel through time and space with me?

I'M SO HAPPY, Bow-Wow!!

I'm so excited. (^^)

First of all, check out Bronze Script and Shoten when I was born.

金文(Bronze Script)

小篆(Shoten)

Actually, my original character was .

In the present 春"Spring", only the part of 日(the sun) remains.

Right. It was from Reisho period that I, 春"Spring" became like this.
Please see this!!

隷書(Reisho)

草書(Sosho)

行書(Gyosho)

六朝楷書(Rikucho-Kaisho)

楷書(Kaisho)

It's the current 春(haru)"Spring"-chan, Ruff-Ruff!

(^_-)-☆
Then I'll tell you why I was born in this shape.
First let me disassemble myself ~ ~ ~ (^ _ -) - ☆

(艸:grass) and (日) and (屯)

By the way, Leciel, what kind of image do you have for Spring?

Spring means pollen for me, Bow-Wow!!
It's so hard that I can't stop sneezing.
So it's not a good season for me, Ruff-Ruff.

Hah hah-! ^_^;
It's true that many people these days think that Spring means "hay fever".
What is your image of spring, Toshu-san?

Speaking of spring, I image the fair weather after the snow has melted.

That's it~(^_-)-☆
Spring is nice, right?

Yes, the severe cold calms down and it becomes easier to spend little by little.

During the cold winter, the life of the grass in the soil is as if it were tightly squeezed.
But in spring the sun shone brilliantly, and the light of the day made the grass sprout. (^ ^)
The words 艸(grass) and 日(the sun) have that meanings.

春(haru)"Spring"-chan was born from the rich sensibility of ancient people.
Wonderful~. (^ ^)

I'm kind of shy.
By the way, there are not only grass buds but also insects in the soil.
In spring, insects also start to move.
Do you know how to express it with one Kanji character?

Hmmm... I don't know. (*_*;

Ahem, Leciel knows it, Bow-Wow!!
It's written 蠢(shun) and read 蠢く(ugomeku)"Wriggle", Ruff-Ruff!!

Leciel, you're right(^^)

Leciel, you are amazing!!
It's a combined Kanji for two insects and spring. Something comes to my mind (; _;)

Leciel is not one for insects, Bow-Wow!!
I don't like it, Ruff-Ruff!!

Leciel, we all live together on Earth.
It's a big mistake to think that only humans live on Earth.

Leciel is a dog, Bow-Wow!!

Oh come on, you only become a dog at times like this.
The grass, the trees, the fish, the insects, the flowers and the animals all live together here on Earth.
There is a word 草木国土悉皆成仏(soumokukokudoshikaijobutsu) which means that even things without feelings like plants can become a Buddhahood. Of course, insects are included.

I didn't know that, Bow-Wow.

The unique sensitivity of the Japanese is expressed in the way they see grass and trees as something that has a heart like humans.

{Suddenly Leciel sings 「手のひらを太陽に」(tenohira wo taiyo ni)"Palm in the Sun"}

Bokura wa minna ikiteiru
Ikiteirukara utaunda♪
Bokura wa minna ikiteiru
Ikiteirukara kanashiinda♪
Tenohira wo taiyo ni sukashite mireba
Makka ni nagareru boku no chishio♪
Mimizu datte Okera datte Amenbo datte
Minna Minna ikite irunda Tomodachi nanda~♪

We are all alive, so we sing because we are alive♪
We are all alive, so we feel sad because we are alive♪
If I put my palm in the sun, I can see my blood flows straight through it♪
Earthworms, mole crickets, water striders, everyone is alive, and everyone is friends each other~♪

一同

Everyone Applause 👏👏

Leciel, you can sing♪ very well~(^^)

Thank you, Bow-Wow!

Where did you learn it?

My friends from the classroom taught me before, Bow-Wow!
All the creatures live together on Earth, Ruff-Ruff!
Leciel is so happy because many people love me, so I'm gonna love insects as well, Bow-Wow!

Leciel, that's wonderful. (^ ^)

(^_-)-☆

Toshu-san, Leciel, what else comes to mind when you hear 春"Spring"?

Well, Spring reminds me of {Haru wa akebono. yoyo shiroku nariyuku yamagiwa sukoshi akarite murasaki dachitaru kumo no hosoku tanabikitaru}

枕草子(makuranososhi)"The Pillow Book" by 清少納言(Sei Shonagon)♪. (^ ^)
I love it!
It has a nice flowing sound in Japanese.
After all, 随筆集(zuihitsushu) [the sentences made by letting a brush write freely whatever comes to mind], the oldest collection of essays in Japan, begins with me 春"Spring". I'm deeply moved. (* ^ ^) v

WOW, AWESOME!!
That's true. When I think about it, it's amazing.
Actually, I also like清少納言(Sei Shonagon)♪. (^ ^)

What do you like about 清少納言(Sei Shonagon), Toshu-san?

The Heian period was definitely a society where men had power. She is the first female essayist among them. And she is a pioneer of female writers. ☆
Too cool ~ (^ ^)
{Toshu-sensei seems a little excited, Bow-Wow!By Leciel}

The next time I see清少納言(Sei Shonagon) in time and space, I'll tell her about your thoughts!

I am so happy that I shed tears. (;∀;)

Oh, you cried.
Then I 'll tell the modern translation! ☆
"For spring, it is the dawn that is most beautiful.
The skies on top of mountains become lighter and lighter with the rising of the sun.
The long thin clouds that turn light purple are a sight to be enjoyed, too". (^ ^)

{Tears are streaming down}
春(haru)"Spring"-chan~, a beautiful scene comes to mind~.
{This time, the scene is so beautiful that Toshu-sensei is still crying, Ruff-Ruff! By Leciel}

People in the past lived in an environment close to nature, so "You can see different things, you can hear different sounds, you can smell different fragrances, you can taste different foods, you can touch different things" ☆
In other words, many people used the five senses at full speed.
清少納言(Sei Shonagon) was one of them, and she was a talented woman who had both sharp sensitivity and high intelligence. (^^)

She was a super lady with abundant sensitivity and literary talent [a profound knowledge of 漢文(kanbun)"Chinese classics" and 和歌(waka)"traditional Japanese poetry"]. (^ ^)

That's true. I think anyone who has read 枕草子(makuranososhi)"The Pillow Book" has already known that 清少納言(Sei Shonagon) wrote with her sensory organs of "Vision, Hearing, Smell, Taste, and Touch"as she felt! Because even I can feel richer when I read it(^^)

Ah, I know that ~ (^ ^)
In my school days, I was also shocked by the powerful expressions using the five senses!!
I felt like I was there just by reading the sentences. In other words, it's what we call the world of virtual reality
And there are beautiful descriptions that touch the heartstrings, as well as interesting descriptions of various human scenes in the Imperial Court.
I even began to feel a sense of closeness toward the human relations where I thought there was no difference from 1000 years ago and now (^ ^)

That's Sei-chan's technique☆
Because when you think about it, 枕草子(makuranososhi)"The Pillow Book" has gripped our hearts even now, after 1000 years have passed.
枕草子(makuranososhi)"The Pillow Book" is incredible~(^^)

You mean Sei-chan is Sei from清少納言(Sei Shonagon). (^^)

「春はあけぼの」(Haru wa akebono)"For spring, it is the dawn" part, scenery and customs of Spring are expressed in the time of Akebono [dawn]. The Heian period was also the time when和歌(waka)"traditional Japanese poetry" was popular, so when it comes to spring, things and events such as "picking of young vegetables" and cherry blossoms were often taken up as the subject of the poems, but Sei-chan took the time after that.
IT'S NOVELTY!
And the painterly depiction of the gradation of colors from the light just before the sun rises is really impressive.

AWESOME!
I would love to meet the superstar of Heian Period~(^^)

Thoughts travel beyond time and space.
I'm sure Sei-chan will be happy, too(*^^)v

I am happy♡
枕草子(makuranososhi)"Pillow Book" will be read by a lot more people in the future!

Imaginative writing is an art that is born from a rich sensibility.
Such works of art will not fade☆
That's why it's a good idea to read a masterpiece like "The Pillow Book" while imagining various scenes and emotions (^^) Because "feel♪ feeling power☆" will be born more and more.

It is wonderful to read while thinking about literature from 1000 years ago
A rich heart grows through literature. (^ ^)

Don’t think. feel !
{Imitating Bruce Lee in the movie "Enter the Dragon"}

Leciel, you are so cool~!!

Leciel, you got a point!
If you can sharpen your five senses and live a life full of sensibility, you will surely have a wonderful future☆彡

Toshu-sensei, 春(haru)"Spring"-chan, the remaining time is running out, Bow-Wow!

Oh, has it been that long?
Yeah, you took time to sing, Leciel!

Toshu-sensei and 春(haru)"Spring"-chan were also excited by Kiyo-chan, Bow-Wow!
Leciel had never read it before, so I couldn't keep up with the story, but after listening to it, I wanted to read it in the near future, and listening to your talking was just fun, Ruff-Ruff!

You've never read it. You are good at 百人一首(Hyakunin Isshu)"a traditional Japanese card game"! (lol)
It was really fun ~ (^ ^)
春(haru)"Spring"-chan, no, Four seasons rangers, could you come again next time?

Of course!
Four of us are Four seasons rangers!

Then, thank you again next time.
Leciel, let's go home!

I would like you to check the 春(haru)"Spring"-chan's profile here, Bow-Wow!
