Toshu's Kanji House 6th

Thank you for waiting. Today's guests are these two 従"Obey" and 比"compare".

{two at the same time} Nice to meet you.

You were singing in harmony. (^^♪
Then, please briefly introduce yourself.

Okay, then!!
We were born in the form of Oracle Bone Script.
We were born in the Chinese Yin Era, so we are about 3,300 years old.

You two make a wonderful harmony.♪

To tell you the truth, we can't see each other back to back, so we decided to talk in the dressing room to meet with just the voice. ~ (^ _-)-☆
So we're glad that you praise us.

I see.
I'd like to listen to your beautiful harmony for a long time, but first of all, please tell me why you were born in such a form from 従"Obey".

Then from me. ^ _ ^
When I was just born, I was like two 人“Person” facing left.

甲骨文字(Oracle Bone Script (About 3,300 years ago))

金文(Bronze Script (About 2,900 years ago))

After verious eras, I became ‘從’, the old character form of ‘従’.

旧字体(Old Character Form (About 1,500 years ago))

Take a good look. You can see '从' (Jyu) in the upper right, can't you?

Yes, I can see it!!

And my old character form is made up with 彳(Gyo-ninben) and 止 and 从.

 彳+止+从

If you combine only Kanji characters of 彳(Gyo-ninben) and 止, it becomes 辵(Chaku), one of the radicals of Kanji.

小篆(Shoten(About 2, 200 years ago))

I think another Kanji will talk about this “辵(Chaku)” later in detail, but “辵” will become “辶(Shinnyo)” and become a Kanji that means going the road.
So, I write “從” to show how the people behind walk along to the previous person.
Originally, from the expression of "following the previous person", it came to mean "obey" like today.

You were born from following a person at first. I see!!
Thank you very much!
Then, 比"Compare", please.

I am 比"Compare" in the form of two 人"Person" who are facing the right, which is the opposite direction of 従"Obey".

What does it mean if you face right?

In case of 従"Obey"...
If there were two people, there would be a scene that followed one of them, so the Kanji for "従" was born.
For example, obey your parents, obey your superiors, obey your teachers, obey your seniors, etc.
So what else would come to your mind if you had two people?

It reminds me the lyrics for "Only one flower in the world".
♪"And yet, we humans, why do we want to compare like this?"♬

I know that song too. It's a SMAP's song.
It came to mean "to compare two things" as 2 people lined up.
It's a little difficult, but we live in a dualistic world of yin and yang.
For example, men and women, light and darkness, the sun and the moon, hot and cold, tall and short, good and bad, positive and negative, possible and impossible.
You can really see how people have lived by being comparing and comparing them.
It's nice if you compare in a good way to improve people, but if you go in the wrong direction, it's hard to live by comparing and being compared.
People are all wonderful and unique.
That's exactly what I want to say in the lyrics of "Only one flower in the world".

If you compare too much, it will lead to bullying, fighting and war.

That's right. It is wonderful to improve by comparing in a good way to others.
But it seems that there are many people who are swayed by the words and actions of others.
It's none of my business, but there's a way not to be swayed.
That's...

What is it??

Even when you are compared, it's better to focus on yourself as "own axis" rather than focusing "other person's axis" on themselves.
I don't mean you should be selfish, but I want you to focus your energy on yourself.

Seems difficult...

So, shall I tell you the magic words?
What do you think when you are in trouble, Toshu-san?

Well, I think "How should I do?" or "What should I do?".

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. (^ _ -) - ☆
The common word is "should".
It's already evidence that you're thinking about it from the other's perspective.

Exactly!!
Then, how I should do?

Oops, you said "should" again.

"(-""-)"

Why don't you speak to yourself?
Like, "What do I want to do?".
That way, you can turn to yourself and become part of your mind.

Good words.
I feel like I'm having a conversation with myself. (* ^ _ ^ *)

That's right.
When the axis turns on you, your five senses become sensitive and intuition becomes sharp.
And if there's something exciting there, you don't really care about anything else. (* ^ _ ^ *)

Oh, sure.
Excitement is a good word.
I'm making "Shodo-works" with excitement, so it's really fun!!
"Fun, Excitement, Infinity∞"♪ is my theme.

By the way, what does 平和"Peace" mean for you, Toshu-san?

It means there will be a lot of laughter and gratitude.

It's very important to laugh a lot and to appreciate many things.
And I think a world without discrimination, a world without comparison, is peace.

That's true.
I love 平和"Peace". ✌♡

{in a hurry} Toshu-sensei!!

What happened, Leciel?

It's almost time to return to our real world, Bow-Wow! !

Oh, it's already been so long.
従"Obey" and 比"Compare", can you come to the next “Toshu's Kanji House” again?

{At the same time} Of course. Our schedule is completely vacant. (^^ ♪

Thank you.
Then, let's continue it at the next Toshu's Kanji House.

Toshu-sensei, please hurry up.
We won't be able to go back. (*_*;
Oh, and finally, 従"Obey"'s profile is here, Bow-Wow!

Wait, Leciel.

Toshu's Kanji House 7th is here.
